Station Safari
From intimate valleys to sweeping mountain vistas, the Station Safari helps guests grasp the magnitude of Flockhill. The sheer variety of terrain, from grazing pastures, wetlands, native bush, and snow-capped peaks, creates an experience that feels expansive, immersive, and deeply connected to place. Designed as a half-day journey, our Station Safari pairs well with activities in our Limestone Boulders. Book them individually or pair them up for an epic full-day adventure.
Following a scenic driving loop with short stops and light walking, it’s a relaxed way to explore Flockhill’s scale and diversity, making it an excellent option for guests with low mobility who still want to immerse themselves in the landscape.
Far Reaches Tour
For those staying longer at Flockhill, or simply looking to experience it all, the Far Reaches Tour ventures into the outermost corners of the property. This journey takes guests across alpine landscapes, over the Midline Railway, and past historic station sites, reaching as far as the Waimakariri boundary for a scenic lunch. Along the way, you’ll discover Blackwater Lake, a remote alpine treasure rarely seen by visitors.
For the most epic version of the Far Reaches Tour, trade wheels for wings on your journey home: begin with a ride out to the station’s edges, hike down to the Waimakariri River or up to Lovers Knob for lunch, then be whisked away by helicopter for a sweeping aerial perspective of Flockhill and beyond.
